Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
The Northwestern Medicine Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Practice is dedicated to cutting-edge cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, with special interest in facial and breast surgery. The practice believes in comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative evaluation.
Plastic and reconstructive surgeons at Northwestern Medicine perform a broad spectrum of procedures designed to improve appearance or correct congenital deformities for women, men and children. Procedures can be performed to enhance appearance on many parts of the body, including the face, neck, ears, breast/chest, abdomen, hips/thighs and skin.
Plastic surgery is more common than you may realize. In 2006, doctors nationwide performed more than 11 million cosmetic procedures and more than 5.3 million reconstructive procedures.
Some procedures offered by plastic and reconstructive surgeons here are considered “cosmetic” while others are considered “reconstructive.” In general, cosmetic procedures are those that improve the appearance of normal, healthy structures. for example abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), rhinoplasty (nose reshaping), breast augmentation or Botox® injections.
Reconstructive procedures are designed to correct or repair problems caused by birth defects, injury, surgery or disease, such as repair of cleft palate, breast reconstruction after mastectomy, or scar revision.
Northwestern Medicine's plastic and reconstructive surgeons use the safest and most effective techniques to address each person’s unique needs. Our goal is to provide sophisticated surgical techniques in a safe hospital environment, to help people look and feel their best.
